The GNRC Europe, Arigatou International and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are offering an International Basic Training Course designed to help educators and young adults working with children and young people on how to use the Learning to Live Together Manual.
This course draws on experience gained in earlier testing workshops, and on the contributions of the professional experts involved. Call for Applications Deadline for submission of applications: 2288 MMaarrcchh 22001111
The purpose of the Basic Training Course is to build the capacity of educators, young adults, facilitators, or whomever will be using the LTLT manual in their work with children and young people. Their role as facilitators of the LTLT manual training will ultimately contribute to achieving quality education for all children worldwide.

BACKGROUND
Learning to Live Together (LTLT) is an Intercultural and Interfaith Programme for Ethics Education aiming to contribute to the realization of the right of the child to full and healthy physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development as well as of their right to quality education. LTLT contributes to improving the relevance of education, which is key to quality. These aspirations are set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the Millennium Development Goals and the Education for All Movement.
It is the first worldwide ethics education programme facilitated by the Arigatou Foundation, UNICEF, UNESCO and the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC). This programme was produced with the input of experts in ethics and education, representatives of UNICEF and UNESCO, and other concerned religious leaders and academics, who prepared it for the Third GNRC Forum in 2008 where it was presented.

The Learning to Live Together manual is the key resource material developed by Arigatou International to advance its ethics education initiative for children. It has been developed as a resource for promoting ethics and values for children, both in religious and secular educational contexts. The material has been widely diffused among educators, teachers, parents, youth leaders, religious and community leaders, NGO and UN staff, and has been used in their work towards the promotion and implementation of children’s rights.

GOAL
This Basic Training Course aims to effectively assist participants in facilitation and draws on the practical use of the Learning to Live Together manual in various contexts.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
• Understand the concepts and principles of the LTLT manual;
• Gain practical skills to use the manual effectively with young people;
• Network and share effective practices; and
• Continue doing further work on how to use LTLT.

WHO THE COURSE IS ADDRESSED TO
This course is addressed to educators, school teachers, university professors, graduate students, youth leaders, community/social workers, religious leaders and any other person who want to use the Learning to Live Together Manual at local, national or regional level.
Particular consideration will be given to those who can demonstrate a real possibility to use the Manual with their own constituency and are in a position to significantly disseminate and promote the use of the Manual within their context as a tool to develop an intercultural and interfaith programme for ethics education for children.
Applicants may come from fields of expertise related to ethics, values and quality education, interfaith and intercultural dialogue/learning, peace building and conflict resolution, youth participation/empowerment, children’s rights, human rights and related fields; and be working with a diverse range of constituencies, from children and young people themselves to youth leaders, teachers and professors, work colleagues, religious leaders, and the community.
